My silly birds haven't left the house for over a WEEK now! RFLOL! It's a nice house, off the ground a lil bit, wood floor with tons of shavings and straw, 16x10 inside- they apparently love it! I fell sucker right away and moved their feed and water inside, I didn't want them to starve and was pretty sure they wouldn't go out... I think they are on strike til that white stuff recedes! I open the East door and they sun themselves, they don't even look out the door! lol

My one rooster fell out into the snow, and you'd have thought someone was trying to kill him- squaking and flapping and all...

Earthworms in Gallup???? I don't have any in Aztec, where it was a balmy -3 this morning.

My Ameraucanas flew out of the coop door yesterday, landed in the snow and refused to move. I picked them up and tossed them towards the door, they returned to the coop and refused to leave for the rest of the day.

We must have tougher birds down here in the bootheel. Mine were excited to see the snow and came running right out into it when I opened the door. They skated on the ice in the puddles and had a grand ol' time.

dak,

Earthworms in Gallup???? Yep. Lotza Compost and Chicken Crap. (But, I think the Earthworms are "holed-up" about 50 feet down right now !!!)

Jossanne, Thet-thar part of New Mexico whut yore in is pret-near "South of the Snow-Border". Are you SURE all that "White-Stuff" is really SNOW ???

(If it is....getcha some old tin-cans and make them chickens some "ice-skates" !!! )

Ha-Ha !!!

P.S. I'm off to see IF my vehicle can slide into town. I need some GRUB. I did see ONE snow-plow day before yestiddy...so I know the County owns one.)

Ha JunkMan, we are usually south of the snow-border. Or at least west of it. 30 miles away in Silver City, they had a foot last week, but we only had a couple of inches. Maybe my chickens were brave because they just didn't know what snow was. But it's been so cold that our couple of inches even stayed on the ground for a few days. AMAZING for this far south...

Got a pattern for teeny little iceskates? We've still got frozen puddles...

Jossanne,

I think that a couple of "butter-knives" and some Duct-Tape should make some decent Chicken ice-skates !

I've got 2 daughters and 5 grandchildren in Silver City. They probably had a family Snowball Fight.
(I never could get those girls of mine to "behave" ! Ha-Ha !!! )

Off to town now,

P.S. taking the dog along in case I need to "dog-sled" back home.

Oh, goodness, I'm actually picturing in my head a bunch of hens with tiny ice skates on their feet....

I went to town for for groceries and fencing, and stole some beautiful birds from DAK while I was at it... IMAGINE my delighted surprise when I opened the box of BLACK chicks to find that one of them is a LAVENDER!!! Awwww! THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!!

Everyone is doing well this morning, the babies are happily hanging out here in the house with me and the guys are out in the feed room with sunshine, feed, and water.

Thank you again!

RFLOL! Actually, I DID go for chickens and figured I may as well get the other stuff done too! LOL

I am 2 hours from everywhere, I go to Albuquerque or Farmington for groceries, vet, barrel races, etc. There is a small town (Cuba) 30 miles away that has gas, expensive groceries, and a clinic (where I work).
