What kind of quail are you raising? I am doing the standard Bobwhites, however some day I would love to try the Gambels Quail as I just LOVE to hear them call in the desert!! I used to live south of Carrizozo and the Gambels would come filing in, one by one to eat bird seed I put out for them in the winter. I adore their calls. And those top knots.

Fun poultry swap here in the four corners today. Will be the third Sunday of every month. Hope for more BYCers next month.

My DS had a great time. He spent today helping me move juveniles into bigger pens. Quite the chicken wrangler.

How is everyone handling the heat these days? According the NWS, "supposedly" the monsoons are on track, starting late this month in the southern portion of the state, reaching the Albuquerque area by the 4th of July. Somehow, I just have my doubts!! There is no rain in the forecasts for the end of THIS month!!

Considering we have already had 18 days over 100 degrees and today is supposed to be 109?

Eh. News said to 110 tomorrow and the next 7 103 plus. Lots of ice water; lots of frozen treats. Lots of misting and lots of ice packs/frozen water bottles to help keep them cooler. They are going through nearly 3 gallons of water a day. It is hard to see them starting to be open mouthed well before noon.
