New Mommy Advice Please

Last hatch was 13/14 before that 18/18... so I'm better than my broody. Lol. 2 hens setting 20 eggs got me 2 chick's. Only one making it til adulthood, so at my place I'm the chicken Hatcher since I can get a perfect hatch and keep them all alive unlike my lazy momma hens. Lol I thought it would be neat to let the hens set the eggs, especially since I had a new not terribly fond of chickens boyfriend right at the beginning of the season and already had 40 chickens, 15 ducks, and 6 turkeys..I basically skipped chicken last season, so I got to have one baby chick... making up for it this year. Lol

Yeah I doubt I'll ever be that good I've only ever had 1 100% hatch with incubators but the hens got it down. I think I have 5 more broodies left then I'm done or should I say they are for the year. Sorry didn't mean to divert your thread OP anyway y'all take care and happy hatching

yes this was her first... she had just barely started laying when she also started sitting. that is why we decided to let her do what she naturally does. she is eating VERY good this morning (thank goodness) I hope she gets to feeling better really soon. bout how long should i give her before i get worried?

really i am scared to try to hatch them myself, that would be all new and im not sure i am eduucated in the chicken raising process enough to assist in the process yet, maybe in a few seasons I will feel more comforntable about the whole situation. I sure apperciate all of yalls guidence, i probly wouldnt have any chickens if it wasnt for all of yalls help throughout!! I am hoping to get some pics and get them posted soon!!

Worry about what? She's not gonna be her beauty queen self overnight as long as she's eating good just give her some time. And about incubating gotta start sometime at least you're a member of this forum and can have some coaching some of us on here me included just kinda winged it and didn't have an internet to help. I had one old man that taught me as I went and I'll be the first to admit I killed my fair share of embroyos but got a lil better each time

update- Mrs. Janette is still looking a bit pitiful. I went for a walk today and got her some clover and dandilion, blackberries, and a few other items. She was very excited and ate all of it. She really loved the clover and dandilions. I was also suggested to break an egg and add the egg and shells to her feed to assist her. I had not ever heard of this before? Has anyone ever heard of this before. I dont want her to get to where she starts eating eggs.

I would cook the egg first that way it isn't recognizable as an egg. I give my chickens boiled eggs shell and all, I just mash it up really well so it no longer looks like an egg. You don't want to teach them theirs food inside eggs
