New noisemaking activities

Keeping them in the coop until later in the morning may help.

Are you sure your neighbors even mind? I love the sound of our chickens. We have neighbors that have cows that I can hear if the wind is right, love it! I'd rather hear animals than someone revving their motorcycle or blaring a boombox or fighting and cursing.
I am not sure, but I certainly don't like having loud sounds occurring at 5:30am. I am totally cool with the egg song happening, and random noises, but that stuff has to come after like 8am. I don't want to be the one who wakes up the whole neighborhood.

Unfortunately, do to the setup of my pen, the coop is not designed to be closed up, and the roof is clear, so keeping it "dark" would take a bit of a feat and an entire redesign/extraneous cost of the setup. I will keep that in mind though. I did some additional research and found that someone started putting cracked corn in a bottle with some holes drilled in it into the run after the chickens had gone to bed for the night, and this seemed to keep them occupied (thus not making noise) until later in the morning. I'm gonna give it a shot.

Can you spray paint the roof? I am assuming it is a clear piece of fiberglass ...

My rooster sounds off well before any light in the sky...the girls are quiet until sunrise.
Long before I open the pop door at 8-9.

I'd say you have a rooster there.
Spurs probably won't start really growing until 9-10 months.

I think you're right. Was able to take a video this morning. Sorry for the state of the yard.

That's funny, a Tarzan crow. Love listening to them find their voice.
This one's voice has always been kind of "Honk/french horn-y" It's a shame we're not allowed to keep roosters in our area, such a personality. He attacked my 80lb malamute through the run fencing yesterday afternoon. The dog was so surprised that he ran away and hid behind me at the other side of the yard!

Probably better off for the dog you trade him in, what would his friends think of him, getting chased by a chicken, embarrassing.
I know right?! He's adopted, but we think he's a low content wolfdog. He also gets pushed around by our cat.

Though you are better off he runs, I have dogs that would like to snack on mine, so constant supervision, which is hard, my chickens free range, but mine are young and are at least growing out of it, though none of my chickens are silly enough to chase the dogs, your rooster is full of himself.
