Equibling: No Chicks yet just completing there house and yard. I have had good success with Welsummers and will probably go back. Why do you ask? do you have a recommendation? I will have room for 15-20 birds, but will probably stay with 15 for now.

Hey bulldog-girl and Coffeemama ; Thanks for the big-ol Oregon welcome it's good to know that I am not the only Oregon chick'ster that likes fooling with these things. Next week I will be in Portland at the Sportsman show. If you are going to attend I will tell you where my booth is so you can stop by and say hello:)

Rogue River, Oregon - Rooster Crow contest

Last weekend in June, the folks in the Rogue Valley bring their roosters to town. The rooster who crows the most in a half hour period wins the booty! Nothing like it. Very funky and down home! For those who are without fowl they have a rent-a-rooster booth. There is also a human crowing contest for the best sounding crow with rooster imitation.
The record for the most crows in a 1/2 hr 112 by a rooster named White lighting. Out crowing the former record holder Beetle baum who held the record for 25 years
We also have the Rooster Crow Parade, and street dance, along with the obligatory food and craft booths all overseen by the Queen of the rooster crow, a local high school girl.
Very small town and very fun. The kids all ride there bikes in the parade decorated with crate paper, playing cards on spokes, fire trucks, logging trucks, church groups, old tractors the such. Here's a good article about it.
