New pic! 5 month old ROO with bump on beak, and now yellowish white spot roof of mouth what is this?

So I pried his mouth open this am and got a really good look, and there is a yellowish white spot on the roof of his mouth associated with the bump. Now I am concerned......... Any ideas what this is... Canker or abscess HELP!

Goddess... the bump is no bigger, the colour is different as i picked at it and now it has scabbed up. I did not notice the white roof of mouth spot until last night, although I had briefly looked before and didn`t see anything. He is eating although he hates my crumble and drinking and pooping (much more solid) and active. My seller said she has seen this before and never known it to do anything besides resolve over time. Not a lot of help :S But seeing the roof of his mouth has me concerned its a canker.... I have sent her this new picture and hope to get more of a reply... I have ordered some metronidazole incase it is a canker I want to treat immediately.

After some more research I also think this could also be pox... Dr. Google is getting the best of me. On the website below, photo no 14 shows a similar bump and yellow white spots (although much more severe in this photo)

Is it true that pox is untreatable? And if it is pox how concerned should I be about my other birds.

I am picking up some metronidazole tomorrow in case it is a canker, and will try treatment with that, I think the dosage is 100 mg per 2 lb bird ( it is the powder I am picking up)

Please correct me if i`m wrong.
Would it hurt to treat with this if it is something else like pox or simply an abscess? or is there something else you would recommend? Is there a test for canker or pox?

Oh god, i sound like a crazy person...

That looks almost exactly like what one of my hens recently had, it was canker. I used the Metronidazole to treat her, and she is just fine now. :) As far as I know it will not hurt if it is pox or something else. (It really looks like canker to me though.)

Thanks Lisa, I do hope its canker and not pox. I will be getting the powdered metronidazole from an aquarium supply store, what form did you have? and what was your dosage? I guess I will have to make a solution and find something to soak it in he will eat.

I got it from Jeffer's in the pill form. (Fish zole is the specific product I used.) It came in 250 mg. form and I just gave her the whole pill because she's an orp and weighs more than my other girls. Your idea of soaking it in something he will eat sounds good, maybe yogurt or some scrambled eggs would work?

Well, for lack of a better guess and almost no guidance from the vet_seller I got him from, I am treating for canker with the powdered metronidazole in his water approximately 200mg - 500ml water. We will see if it does anything. Fingers crossed!!!

I returned Blaze to the seller today. After 3 days treatment and betadine swabbing the lesion the lesion disappeared and the bump was showing improvements. But even after treatment he will be a carrier from what I have read, so he will infect my flock. I couldn`t take any chances....

But I have learned a lot, and if my girls get canker, I`ll know it when I see it!
