I haven't had pigeons for almost 40 years.

This beauty showed up and adopted us a few days ago and I need to know if it is male or female. My gut says female with the small head and feet but I'm not sure. - Thanks

I saved this video on sexing pigeons, can't say yet from experience if his ideas are correct but interesting FWIW

I think you bird in question is ♂ because his neck seems very iridescent and also he appears a bit larger than average.

If it lays an egg it is female that is one thing I will guarantee.

Mistakes can be made no matter which method you choose to sex your pigeons.
I find the best way to sex a bird it to ask another pigeon.

There's another pretty good sexing video Where they compare birds of the same color and breed looking at body type, size, posture, etc. Points that @Hokum Coco made earlier

But he looks 'robust', his neck is thicker than what I would expect in a hen. Were you able to examine the toe length or pelvic distance?

It is definitely a pigeon and not a dove.
I could be wrong on the sex every pigeon fancier has made that mistake.
You just got my best guess.

We did the "tail up or down" test and it holds the tail level and drops it down so that would indicate boy. The pelvic distance seems close together. I'm guessing a young male.
