Ok,
I got him a known girlfriend. Now that I have them side by side, does everyone still agree he is a he?
Also, I'm told these are Rock Doves. Is that just a fancy name for pigeon?- Thanks; my 13 y.o. son is over the moon with his new birds
P.S. I'm told I can pluck the primary feathers and they will grow back? The female has hers plucked and can fly about as far as my heavy chickens.

We did the tail test and "his" tail goes down and "her" tail def. goes up. Hopefully that's a good sign.

Wondering about his age now for 2 reasons: a) his eye look solid black in the pics. and b) if you put a breeding age male in with a pretty blue check like that, will he not begin courting immediately?

(your new pics make me think he's young, maybe lost on first toss?)

What does the black eye mean? He has one of each; one black and one orange like hers.

Now that you say he has one of each I'm not at all sure. Mostly they have solid black eyes when they are quite young and turn orange as they age. What about their behavior with each other?
