Tollia blinked, gripping Gar's arm. Her mind cleared and the feeling of terror subsided but as she looked at the young fellow the image rose again. Great ribbed wings spread wide and head held proud. It was a dragon that appeared in the air behind him, of within him. She could not truly tell, it was as though he and the dragon were one image. She stepped forward, Gar keeping his hand on her shoulder. She reached out to the fellow, but then noticed the people gathered about them. They had made a spectical, her episode, Gar being thrown to the ground. She could hear the snickering, see the mocking gazes. How she hated these people. She did not want to turn their attention to the strangers, she would spare them that. She would not have wished their attention on the worst of her enemies. Instead she stepped up close to the fellow, her voice low enough not to be heard by anyone but the two of them. "What are you?"

"What do you mean? I am human," Sterling said without hesitation. Florence grabbed the horses reins walking up behind Sterling.

"Wait! I believe that I will take that gold coin!" But he realized that he was too late, that he had made a terrible mistake. He had not only lost a chance at a rare coin but lost his meal ticket as well. Despite his terror the thought of a sideshow performance involving blood melting steel crossed his mind. Quite a lot of coin to be had in that. He shook his head and allowed the thought to slip away, no way to keep that one chained.

Gardenia gasped, wondering what was to happen now. Thinking to herself that it couldn't be much worse than the last ten years of her life. She gathered all of her strength of body and mind and she leapt out of the cage. Darting towards the only kindness she had known since this nightmare had began. Keeper turned to her as she swung up onto his back, encircling her arms about his waist. He looked at her over his shoulder. "I feel that this shall be good, you shall be safe now." His voice was a whisper. She looked back at the stranger, her eyes watering. "Please, sir knight, can you help my friend?"

Kaydar watched as the Pixie darted past him, making no move as to stop her. If she wanted freedom it was hers, no creature deserved life in a cage. He was surprised when she climbed onto the back of a Centaur. Her timid voice and the tears in her eyes reminded him of all the children that he had known. This creature was very much like a child, but something told him that she was far from it. He swung himself up onto the mare's saddle, flicking her reins so as to bring her back to the forest's edge. What was he doing? He was supposed to be on a mission, stealth was what he had been trying to achieve. Cutting his hand and melting the bars of a cage was not how to remain stealthy. And having a Pixie riding a Centaur would make anyone stare at them. He sighed, his forked tongue darting out to lap up the blood of the cut, his saliva healing the wound instantly. He looked over his shoulder as he donned the gauntlet once more, regretting the words as he spoke them. "Come with me and you shall be safe."

Tollia snorted and grasped his shirt sleeve. "You are no more human than I am a Centaur." Gar tapped her on the shoulder, motioning to the gathering crowd. "If you two really want to whisper about something you best do it off of the main road. We are gathering attention that I am sure none of us want."

Sterling jerked his shirt sleeve away from her grasp his eyes slitting in warning. He shook his head gesturing to Gar. "Smart idea," he muttered.

Gar sighed, looking to the Maid who stood by the horse. Tollia was still staring at the fellow, her face pale but her gaze determined. Just once he wished that he could see through her eyes, could feel how she felt. Then perhaps he would better be able to understand her impulsive behaviour. He pointed back the way they had came, snatching his russack back from his friend and quickly straightening the arrows. "It's quiet back there, no prying eyes. Something I believe the two of you would rather avoid." Gar looked back to the Maid, realizing now why she looked so familiar. "Florence, isn't it? I think we may have run into each other once or twice. I'm afraid I don't know your friend's name though."

Sterling nodded. "Alright." Florence looked at him. "That'd be me," Florence said, "and you'd be Gar I presume?" She asked.

Gar nodded, sweeping his hand toward Tollia and grasping her wrist. "This, as you may have guessed is Tollia. You can tell me the other fellow's name in a moment, but for now we need to move. It won't be so long before the Elvish guard comes to settle the 'rowdy' crowd." He rolled his eyes as he spoke, knowing that it was they that would be punished, even though the crowd was gearing up to cause trouble for them. Gar pulled Tollia back into the alleys, trusting that the others would follow.

Tollia shook her head, unable to rid herself of the image. A Dragon, but what did it mean. She had seen dragons in her mind, in her dreams. But today was the first time she had ever seen them in reality. Was she going mad? She trembled and decided that it was vest not to think of such things, she merely peered over her shoulder at the strange young man. What was he?

Keeper ran as fast as his legs would carry him, stopping at Kaydar's side.

The wealthy Elf laughed cruelly. "He's nothing but a useless, lazy Centaur. You will not get a fight from me for that creature."
