Kaydar pulled back on the reins and the mare reared, turning back to face the Centaur and the Pixie.

Keeper stopped before coming near the mare, graceful as always. Gardenia looked meekly up at their rescuer. "Sir knight, I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am for your help for my friend and I. We have been held captive by the Elves for ten years with no hope of escape. I am indebted to you."

Tollia closed her eyes. She didn't want to make Sterling uncomfortable. But something... something forced her to continue. "You're a Dragon, aren't you?" Her voice was soft and low, her eyes shifted over to Florence. "And you are like me."

"Im no dragon," Sterling persisted. "What do you mean 'like you'?" Florence asked raising a brow at her curiously.

Kaydar bit back a snarl, trying to force himself to remember that these were merely children. "Then be silent. Your jabbering would have alerted anyone within ears shot. My task is dangerous enough without the two of you risking discovery." His tone softened and he turned the mare from them again, continuing at a slow gallop. "What do they call you?"

Gar looked from Sterling to Tollia and back again. Yes there was something strange about him, but a Dragon? Where were the wings, the scales, the claws, the blood thirsty maw? For the first time in his life he found himself doubting Tollia.

The young Wildling's gaze was determined and she locked her eyes onto Sterling's cap. Without warning she leapt up, grabbing a support beam overhead and swinging over the young fellow. As she sailed she snatched his hat from atop his head, tossing it to Florence as she landed. "He is denying what he is, but I can see in your eyes that you do not. The woodlands are in your blood, along with fire and strength. Your blood is as ancient as mine, we are kinfolk, you and I."

"Gardenia is my name, and this is my friend...." She looked at the young Centaur expectantly. "The only name that I know for you is Keeper..." He smiled bashfully and said. "Keeper it is then. How should we address you, sir knight?"

Sterling's eyes widened he threw his hands up to his ears. "How dare you!?" He spat his eyes slitting. Florence set a hand on his shoulder "calm down. There is no one here only they know," She said. Sterling took a deep breath calming himself. "Fine I admit it. Now give me my cap."

Kaydar grunted and shook his head. Flaring his wings out from beneath his cloak. He held them high and felt pride. "You can begin by ceasing to call me sir knight. I am Kaydar, the Dragon king of Churell." He let his wings fall and neatly folded them back beneath the cloak. "Leastways I was a king once, when I was strong. But I will be strong again, mark my words. But when that time comes you had best find another guardian."

Gar felt shame for having doubted his friend, swearing that he would make it up to her. He took the cap from Tollia, s hand and gave it back to the... The Dragon. He found it difficult to admit even in his mind. He caught himself staring at Sterling. Where was the sense of evil and cruelty, the blood stained claws? He continued to stare, awe showing plainly on his face.

Sterling snatched the cap back pi lying it back over his head forcing his ears under it. Sterling glanced up at Gar raising an eyebrow at him staring. Florence watched Sterling carefully making sure he was alright.

Gardenia bowed her head "My friend and I owe you so much, for saving us back there. If we can do anything to assist you, we are more than happy to help. I can not speak for Keeper, but I Sire swear my loyalty to you." Keeper nodded. "As do I."
