Kaydar slipped down out of his saddle, taking his new mare by the reigns and walking her over to the cage. He shouldered the jeering creatures out of the way, the angry patrons gearing themselves up to take action but sidling away when they caught the look in his slitted green eyes. They made a shield around him, none coming within arms reach. Kaydar grasped the iron bars of the cage, his eyes softening as he saw the Pixie with her strange, glowing markings. "Lass..." His voice was soft and kind, barely more than a whisper. But it silenced all of the jeering and harsh words, forced the onlookers to turn their gaze towards him.

Gardenia opened her eyes, bringing her back to the terrible place which was now her life. She heard a commotion, and the crowd around her were starting to part and seemed frightened of something. Which made her cower down in the farthest corner of her cage, for whatever it was that was approaching must have been something very evil if her tormentors were frightened. What was was to become of her now. She looks up to see a leather clad creature approaching her cage. She closes her eyes and attempts to go to another place in her mind, but the fear is too great this time and she cannot escape. She hears a voice, it is kinder than she had expected. She opens her eyes and meekly looks up at the stranger, wondering what was going to happen next.

Kaydar shook his head as the Pixie met his eyes, her gaze so lost and frightened. He cursed and the crowd stepped farther back, eyeing him warily. "Why are you caged, Lass?"

Tollia stopped, putting her hand on Gar's shoulder as she tilted her head to the side. They were in the town center, surrounded by people she had never cared for. People too busy with their own pride to look past their wants and needs to see those of others. She hated walking along these roads, but it was the only way out of town. She blinked, tilting her head the other way as Gar lifted one brow. "Do you hear something? I think it's... hooves..."

I have asked myself the same question so many times and still I have no answer she thought who is this stranger before me and how should I respond. How many years has it been since I have even spoken? "I... don't know."

The horse crashed through the few people in front of them the people toppling over. The horse wasnt seeming to slow down as it neared them.

Florence came crashing through the crowds stumbling every now and again. Sterling following behind her. "Fallen!" She shouted at the horse, "Stop!"

Kaydar snorted at her answer, turning from the cage to see a wealthy looking Elf standing nearby. The Elf was careful not to meet his gaze and that is when Kaydar realized that, unfortunately, he was clothed in the garb of an Elvish knight. No doubt he looked one, Dragons in biped form often did. The wealthy Elf probably thought that he was going to fine him for not having the proper documents or some such. He snarled, marching over to the Elf, dropping his horse' reins. His mare walked closer to the cage, sticking her square muzzle between the bars and whickering at the Pixie for attention. Kaydar snagged hold of the wealthy Elf's collar, pulling him up to his tip toes so that he was eye level. "Why is a living, thinking being caged?"

((Do you want to talk as the wealthy Elf, Dusty?))

<Sure>

The Elf snorted. "What on earth makes you believe that she can think? Until now I did not even know that she could speak." He smirked and narrowed his eyes. "She has proven to be rather entertaining at times and as such has helped line my coin purse. And what business is it of yours?"

Gardenia was glad that everyone was watching the stranger, that there was no attention on her. She pulled a chunk of apple from the folds of her gown where she had hidden it earlier that day. Very gently she offered it to the horse because she felt akin to the bridled beast. Caged and collared for someone else's pleasure.

Kaydar stared at the haughty Elf for a moment, fighting back a snarl. He dropped the Elf, nearly chuckling as he landed in the mud. He pulled on the leather cord looped about his neck, a coin bag hanging from it. The cord it was on was very long, so in his dragon form it would dangle from just below his jaw. He pulled a huge golden coin from the bag, the face etched with an eye whose pupil was a diamond. He held it before the Elf's eyes, knowing it was the only language that a creature like him would understand. "Line your purse, eh? How would you like to line your purse with this? Give her to me and it is yours."

The horse made an excited whinny, taking the apple and munching away as she eyed the Pixie gratefully.

Gar shoved Tollia out of the way as the runaway horse barreled forward, preparing himself for the impact to come.

Florence spotting the horse turned to Sterling who bent down and hooked his hands. Florence stepped into his interlocked hands bending her knee. Sterling withhis extra strength launched her into the air. Florence laughed loudly, having done this before, and landed hard onto the horses back. The horse startled by the sudden weight lunged to the side hitting Gar's side instead of head on. Florence reached forward grabbing the horses reins pulling the horse to a sliding stop. The horse snorted the white of his eyes showing and foaming at the mouth. Florence dismounted holding the reins slowly walking over to the front of the horse. She pressed her forehead to the horses face exhaling when the horse inhaled. The horse slowly began to calm down. Florence lifted the hem of her shirt wiping the horses mouth as Sterling walked up.
