New Point of Lay Hen - Pale/Wattle turned pale .....

@Wyorp Rock - please can I ask a quick question - do you know if I am able to use Apple Cider Vinegar as well as Coxoid when treating Ginger for coccidiosis?

She is not showing any signs of improvement (unfortunately). :-(
I'm sorry she's not improving.
If you are treating with the Coxoid, that should be the only thing added to the water.

UPDATE:- Ginger has now had Coxoid in her water for 7 days (including 4 days of direct oral drench on top).

Her face is still pale in colour (she has a little colour - not a great deal). I see her pecking at the layers, sunflower seeds and corn - but how much she eats - I don't know 🤷‍♀️ . The only thing she eats with gusto is mealworms - which I try and keep to a small amount each day as a treat after I've given her the medication etc.

Her poop is still watery/runny and very green as before - I'll attach pictures to show you what I find in the hen house (from this morning).

She has free range but doesn't wander far - she ambles around but stays close to the fence in view of the other hens.

If it wasn't for her colouring or her poop (and the fact she hasn't really grown) - I wouldn't be too worried about re-introducing her back in with the others - especially if I thought it would be less stressful for her.

Incidentally - I spoke to the breeder about her condition (because I first saw signs within 2 weeks of her arriving here), it seems that they have experienced Coccidiosis in the past and say they treat with ACV. Suggesting that they don't actually vaccinate the hens. Is that normal with a breeder? I'm due to pick up a couple more point of lay hens in the future.

So anyhow, I digress, my question is - do I keep her separated for another week and give her half the Coxoid in the water each day and maybe continue with a direct oral drench (or not? She obviously hates this and puts up a bit of a struggle). Or do I release her back into the coop with the others? I've attached a very short video to show you how she is - this is her walking about (the hen on the outside of the pen).

Has anyone any ideas?

@Wyorp Rock - appreciate your thoughts as you have been so incredibly helpful throughout this journey.

I would try to get her eating as much of her normal feed as possible and see if the poop clears up.
She seems to move o.k. Try her with the others and see what happens. She looks pretty young still to me as well, she may or may not get along with the other and that big beautiful rooster of yours.
If she's been drinking the Coxoid water plus you drenching her daily as well, the I would consider her treated.

Did you worm her?

I have no idea if ACV would treat a Coccidiosis overload. Some people add that to their chickens water as a source of probiotics and possibly as a prophylactic.

Yes I have been trying to and she seems to go for the food but doesn't eat much. She has a nibble before bed - I put some next to her temp perch along with medicated water and she has a bit then followed by a little sip. I have tried her with a few treats such as a small piece of banana - but she is not interested. She has only had the option of medicated water - but to monitor how much - i've only put a small amount out and there is always some left.

Yes she is moving fine. She is tiny - I think the coccidiosis has stopped her development. She arrived with two others who have grown and are laying. Whereas she has not grown over the 7 weeks she has been with me (but she has been poorly for the last 5 weeks) - nor has she laid (but that's not important to me - I just want her to get better).

She is fine with the other two youngsters - but is a bit nervous of the others (although she felt comfortable enough to sleep next to them on the perch - there is plenty of space and she could sleep elsewhere if she so wished in the hen house). I may keep her separated during the day tomorrow and then let her join them at bedtime.

I did worm her a couple of weeks ago and she seemed to improve (before going back down hill). The Lab tests showed no worms. I have also put Louse powder and Red Mite powder on her a few weeks ago.

I'm guessing her body will need a pick me up and I have got some Poultry Tonic (it's a pick-me-up full of vitamins and minerals and extra B vitamins to help support birds in stressful situations). If only she'd eat a little piece of bread - I could soak it on there - but instead i'm going to have to syringe her each day! Do I give her one more day of Coxoid or go straight to a pick me up?

Thank you again for taking the time to help @Wyorp Rock - I truly appreciate it.

Harker's Coxoid is given for 7 days. You've given her 7 days correct?

I would give her vitamins for a couple of days.

Yes 7 days - I started giving her medicated water last Thursday.

I’ve already given her some Poultry Nutri drops this morning (it's supposed to be a pick me up for hens full of vitamins etc). I’m going to give her this for three days and I’m possibly going to leave her separate from the others until Saturday. Give a chance for her to build up a bit (hoping and praying she does).

Thank you again for all your help. Keeping everything crossed she comes through this.

Update:-

After initally picking up for a couple of weeks, she has once again gone very anemic looking, she doesn't move around much, she feels like skin and bone underneath her beautiful feathers. She looks like she goes to eat - but hardly anything is touched - no matter what I try. I've separated her (which is sad as she feels more confident when with one of the other hens). I'm restarting her on Coxoid again for 7 days - I don't know what else to do. It is totally heartbreaking to see her this way - but I feel I'm fighting a losing battle.

I'm re-doing the coxoid - because the lab tests originally said there were high levels and I am thinking that the previous 7 days wasn't enough to clear it? I don't know - think it is worth a go, i'm drenching her with some - today will be the third drench - no improvement seen so far.

Does anyone have any ideas if there is anything else that could be affecting her. BTW she hasn't grown or put any weight on at all in the last 8 weeks! Grateful for any advice. Thank you.

I'm sorry she's not improving :hugs

Is there any way you can take some samples to your vet for testing?
Our local vets are closed, there is another one (part of the same chain) 1/2 hour away that I could try. I've had her samples sent away to The online Chicken Vet previously and they confirmed no worms but high lovels of Cocci. Her poop looks similar - fair bit of liquid (no blood). Do they test for other issues?

Thanks
