Those are a sweet little firearm. I've got a .22 over .410 under and it is just perfect for use around where I live in the country. It's also one of my main canoe trip guns, I have a stock sock that holds 8 rounds of .410 and have both buck and #4 shot in that so it's handy for whatever comes along.
The guns are difficult to find and you're lucky to have that one especially with the .22 mag on it.
I refinished my stock and found a beautiful blonde curly maple wood underneath the factory stain.
Needless to say, if you ever want to sell that one, please let me know...
Also, mine is a model 24 S-D, can one of you fellow gun enthusiasts tell me what model year that is? or what the S-D designation means.?

koifarm if your gun does not have a serial # then look at the letter stamp under the forearm on the barrel and match the letter with the year manufactured. AussieAcres posted this list.

Now you have my curiousity up. I have a Savage 22/410 over and under. The stamping under the fore arm on the underside of the barrel is B OE then 2 funny symbols. It is a Model 24 .22 long rigle. Most accurate little gun you'd ever want to hold. Sweet! So is mine made in 1950?

I believe mine is a 245 S-E. Somebody tell me about it. It was my moms 40 years ago.

The most favorite preditor gun that I own is a Savage model 93R 17 HMR. It's a .17 caliber bullet,( same as a pellet gun) but has the powder of a .22 Mag behind it. It is the most accurate gun that I have ever seen. We were putting holes in dimes at 70 yards. Dropped a coon in its tracks. Not to get into graphic details but it makes a small hole going in but makes a mess on the other side. I never thought that something this small would cause so much damage. I was used to killing preditors with my .22 rifle earlier and sometimes had to use several shells to finish the job. This 17 HMR is a one shot, one kill weapon if your aim is accurate.

kartking, youre right I bought one because i thought it would be great for long distance squirreling. However, It fairly well "cleans" one at 100 yards. and really who wants to shoot squirrels that far away. BTW Great buy on the .410/22 JEALOUS!

Good to see some other Gun nutz here. I am also an avid shooter collector and sometimes even builder (mostly of Military types)

I am also a champion of self defense and self reliance. It does not surprise me to find that self sufficiency and guns would find themselves together on many different forums. I frequent quite a few Gun forums and self defense forums too.
