Hello all...

we are getting a new puppy she was born on Nov 1...
she is a min pin..

I have heard that Min pin's have a REALLY high prey drive and are hard to train...and should never be off lead..

my dogs now say they have a high drive (malamute/husky...and a toy fox terrier)..but they dont bother with the chickens..

i am wondering if anyone else has min pins and how they are with the chickens

we dont get her till january so i have time to plan a way to keep her away from the chickens

her beside the TV remote

Well I'll put my 2 cents in

Start how you mean to go on. If she can't when she grows up don't let her do it now.

Take her to puppy classes the humane society can tell ya where when and who has them. Here they are every Tues and cost $3 a class.

If you teach her no and start young you should be able to train any dog no matter the pray drive.

Just keep the rules the same and even though she is cute now remember they grow up and you want them to be the best they can be.

Mostly love her lots and have fun. Oh ya I like violet.

she is adorable! i had a min pin /pappy mix..and yup she was hyper!....but the sweetest little thing!...i didnt have chickens when i had her,,so, i cant help ya there...and, i would def. keep her on a lead at all times..unless you have fenced in yard...Leta was an escape artist!...also, beware of hawks....one almost got her..she was barking at it the whole time though..

..didnt know it could rip her to shreds....they dont realize they are small..mine was totally the dominat dog in my house..and that was with my 90 lb Saint Bernard female...she would jump up and grab my saints jowls if she tried to eat before her...(my poor saint still looks around at meal times....)..i loved her..and i am lucky that i still get to see her alot..(my husbands parents have her). congrats!..she is so cute!, Wendy
