Hi everyone! I have had 3 ducks, 1 male pekin, one male khaki, and 1 female khaki for about 6 months now. My male ducks were fighting and picking on my female duck, so i decided to adopt a female pekin from our local animal rescue called Last chance ranch! She’s a little skittish but other then that she’s so so sweet! She is missing a lot of her blood feathers on her wings (she was clipped before she came to the shelter) And she’s also pretty bare in the area between her feathers and her tail. The male pekin that we have is “the boss” and we got Bonnie (our female pekin) for him, so he can have someone that looks like him. Our male pekin doesn’t necessarily have a problem with her, especially when it’s just them two hanging out in our garage (we quarantine her for a couple hours a day because she is constantly getting picked on by our male khaki, and when he starts to pick on her, so do the others. Is this because she’s more scraggly then the others and doesn’t look the same quite yet? It’s only been about 5 days, and we also separate them at night so she can sleep peacefully. What else should we be doing? Is this normal? Is it because she looks different? All help is welcome!
