New Rooster.....

i think big boy is gonna whoop little boys butt! and then what good is your little rooster gonna be? he/s going to not be allowed to breed with the other hens. he might sneek one in every now and then but it will be tough on him. i don/t think you can have a space big enough for two roosters...they/ll come together from far and wide when the time comes to fight

I disagree... I have multiple roos together with my hens, and everybody knows their place. Each roo has his own few girls, and they work things out. I have roos from Seramas, to a very large polish boy. My seramas will chase my EE roo away from their girls, and are actually top of the pecking order. Maybe it's because my chickies get out to range daily (as long as the weather permits), but my flock gets along well with no issues

Thats right but here you have an infertile one that is going to have his bunch. My understanding is that he breeds but is not fertile. Dont think that will work out if OP wants to hatch

That is a big no. Do not get new rooster. If yours is large and the other small it will be dead real fast. Also how old is your Rooster? Is he over 6 years of age. If he is under that I would not worry.

just my 2 cents...

i just got a 2nd lf roo off craig's list...
he looked ssoo lonley in the isolation by himself that i decided to let him in with everyone else and deal with whatever issues came up...
pyrgus is the new guy, blue is my original rooster...
pyrgus is bigger than blue.. but not by much... pyrgus also has a gimpy leg and his wings dont work right
they fluffed up at each other a few times, but i stepped in the middle and they stopped.. and now, 2 days later, they're fine.. they lay next to each other in the shade under the tree... i'm not sure if pyrgus is fertile or not, or if with his leg issue he could even breed if he wanted to, but blue made a point of breeding a few of the girls right in front of pyrgus.. i thought that was pretty funny....

i did find them puffing up at each other yesterday, but it never even came to pecks... blue backed off for whatever reason.. i was worried that pyrgus being gimpy would be an isue to pick on.. but they all love him... except the peahens.. they for some reason want to fight with him.. but even that has stopped now that the peahens no i wont put up with it...

this morning, i let my banties out to free range, i also have a banty roo...
he fluffed up at pyrgus.. pyrgus ignored it the first time, the second time he fluffed his feathers back and the banty (Ironman) didn't want to back off and tried to jump at pyrgus... pyrgus jumped over ironman and spun around, iron mad decided to leave it be.. lol...

so despite what everyone says, roos are all individual... and you wont know unless you try.. just be ready to separate if you need to...
the new roo being fertile and smaller may not even be an issue... him and your original roo may end up being buddies.... it can happen
