New Sebastopols with angel wing

Well...This is a big "depends on" and also partly my opinion on interpretation of the standard. If you can see the wing tips of your goose forming a great big "X", I would consider it undesirable. It's back may be too narrow or the wings just might not be in proportion to it's body. Most of my geese will have their wing tips cross some of the time. If they are nervous or upset they will pull their wings in so tight against their body that their wing tips will cross. When they relax, their wings should lay flatter and appear parallel when viewed from above. Keep in mind that young geese grow in stages and some parts of them grow disproportionately to the others.
I am now of the opinion that Sebatopols should be anywhere from a year to 18 months old to show their true potential. Also, I TRULY
believe small faults SHOULD NOT override great virtues. I sold a favorite gander with crossed wing tips at a year old who had some unique features I loved. I have been kicking myself ever since!

The previous owner must of had Dave Holderread bloodlines.
In the 3rd pic on page 1 the curly one in the foreground looks like a rare lavender and the tan and white smooth bird is a buff saddleback.
Lucky you to get some rare colors!
If I were you (if you breed them) breed the smooths to some curlies and you will get about 50% curly offspring from those breedings.

I have 2 articles on my website regarding Angel Wing.
I'm of no definate opinion as to what causes AW.
It's all too confusing due to the conflicting information
but I feel its most likely both feed & genetic related.
Over feeding and lack of grass and exercise is a big culprit.
Also some of what you're seeing in your geese is merely stiff primaries which is an undesirable but very common fault in Sebastopol Geese.
Sebastopols also commonly get a disorder called
"Twisted Wing Tip".
See details on the bottom of my sales page and on my colored Seb page regarding TWT.

There is also info on breeding smooth Sebbies on my colored Seb page.
Have fun with your new geese!

There are two main theories. One is too much protein. The other is too many carbohydrates. I back the carbohydrate theory.
