Hello from Maine! I am new to Silkies and chickens in general. My 9 year old sons first encounter with a Silkie was at a local Fair, he begged for one so I bought him four little chicks from a wonderful and knowledgeable chicken gal named Tina. That was about a year ago. We are now up to seven chickens and hope to add a few more that are show quality for my son to work with. In addition to the Silkies we also have 4 Quarter Horses and a Paint horse, 2 Australian Cattle Dogs and an Australian Shepherd pup. My son also breeds quality Holland Lop rabbits on a very small scale, with only 1 buck, 1 doe and one litter per year in the Spring. I hope to meet lots of helpful folks on here! I would love for my son to maintain his interest in the Silkie breed. If anyone out there has a nice Show Silkie that they'd like to part with please do let us know!
