New Super Coop!

The coop is finished. Other than roosts, a few odds and ends and the gutter, it's good to go! I will be continuing the front interior wall once I get more boards (I'm replacing a front section of my fence).

It's great! However, I've been anxiously waiting to see the covered porch.

Oh I understand. When u said it’s finished, I thought you cut it from the design.
Today, my husband & I decided to add another run onto this coop.

I don’t feel safe letting the 6 week olds & 3 week olds in the same run. So the babies sleep in a brooder/play pen we built inside the coop & during the day while the 6 week olds are in the run, the 3 week olds get the run of the inside of the coop. Today we put the older ones in a fenced kennel area around our adult flock’s tractor & let the Little’s have the run. This took some juggling/herding and afterward my husband insisted we find/build a better way.

We decided on an 8' wide x 4' deep porch. I'll be starting on that in a few days I hope. We did move the gang into the new run today. They aren't quite sure what to make of it as it's so much more space! They have a swing, more roosting logs and a much bigger dust bath. They haven't explored the inside of the coop yet, so it should be interesting tonight come bedtime.

They keep giving the big red alien poultry cup waterer the evil eye, but they did manage to haul watermelon all over the run.

Other than a little paint and trim around the porch roof, and other odds and ends that may come up (Solar, Gutter, who knows) the Super Coop is DONE! I think I started this whole project around May 15. Worked on it 2 days a week (both my days off) since then. Finished the porch and porch roof at 8:00 tonight.
And the darn silkies would rather sleep in a corner of the run. I haul their fluffy butts into the coop every night around 9:30..

Trim has been painted and a few other decorating touches. Added some toys in the run that they aren't quite sure about.

I think the local PD may be after us for zoning violations. We created a red-light district..

The sunshade on the run is a little makeshift for now; I'll be finding a better looking way to attach it.
