    Hello,

I’m Becky from MA. I have 4 horses and 3 dogs. We have a horse farm with 6.5 acres and although I’ve tried keeping ducks before and couldn’t stand the smell, we are going to try hens and do the eggs. Build a cool off the barn. I’m nervous and my young daughter is very excited.

Welcome!!! While I love them both, chickens are much less messy than ducks for sure!

Hope you enjoy the site :)

    I meant coop.
Yes! I realized, I just like admiring ducks from far away. Good to hear they are less messy! Thanks!

I've never had them but I've been told repeatedly that ducks are very creative poopers, they can paint the walls even the ceiling without leaving the ground. They love water and making messes with it everywhere.

I think you will really enjoy chickens.

G’Day from down under Horseluvr7 :frow Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out. These two may be of particular interest to you:
Topic of the Week - Getting Started, Keeping Chickens
Topic of the Week - Keeping the Flock Safe from Predators

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

    Hi and :welcome
I have never had ducks myself, but I believe the are mucky and smelly. Pleased to say I've never had any smelly issues with chickens so I think you will enjoy your new flock. Glad you joined us.
