New to backyard chickens, had 3 chickens die suddenly.

I had 3 chickens die suddenly yesterday just out of the blue. They looked healthy in the morning and by afternoon I found 3 dead.... can anyone suggest as to what happened? They all had bloody butts so idk if that had something to do with it. Any suggestions would be a great help. Thank you
