New to Backyard Chickens

Hows it going im from west salem ohio. 10 mins away my best advice is build one to your specs because they cost a lot. Or around here you could stop by one of the amish spots and ask them there is one on 175 and 604 they build custom animal hutches good luck. Meyer hatchery in polk has some pre built ones also along with rko & tsc but their smaller :welcome If you arent able but can buy it i can help assemble ill post a pic of mine that uses an old swingset as a run.

Thank you. U are just north of me. I’m off 250 and 83. I may take you up on that. Someone mentioned just buy a shed and make run. I have a shed I could use it’s up off the ground but I know there are ground hogs living underneath. So I would have to have someone either get them out and then try and put something over the entrance so they don’t get back in. Would you be able to someone take a ride down and look at it for me and maybe make suggestions? It would be a shame not to use the shed since it’s already no you for your input

I joined to be able to connect with other people who are raising chickens. I’m entering into this as a hobby so starting with a small group of chickens and hope to expand in the future. I live outside Wooster city limits in Franklin Twp and just starting to set up my flock. I guess that’s what it’s called. ??

I am trying to find a coop I can put together myself. Most coops on the internet are only for a couple chickens so I’m am going to visit places to see what’s available.

Wish me luck!
:welcomeHello and Welcome! Remember you can make a coop out of just about anything. I actually took a old Outhouse and turned it into a coop and I used a 10x10 dog kennel for another. So what ever you decide WILL Work. So pull up a chair and welcome to the flock! If you have any issues or questions just ask. It is simple as that around here. Somebody will give you ideas, opinions, or solutions.:jumpy

I do hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

You might want to also Find Your State Thread and pop in and say hello.

BYC has a Learning Centre and also Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Best wishes and good luck!
