Hi all,

My wife and I are new to having backyard chickens. They're Rhode Island Reds and are doing great out back. We got a free chicken coop and fence-line from Craigslist, bought some supplies, got our chickens, and put up a dedicated area in our relatively large, shaded back yard for the chickens. So far, so good! I'm happy with how resilient and friendly the Rhode Island Reds are. We got them strictly for egg laying, so we'll see how it goes. Nice to be here!

Hi there! I haven't posted a ton on this site but have been using it to do tons of research for several months. I have 16 four month old girls who are like my babies. I love them. Welcome to the site! You can find an answer to almost every question here. It's amazing. :)

Welcome to BYC! Nice to have you aboard. RIRs are a very hardy, dual-purpose breed that will give you a decent amount of eggs. Good luck with your flock.
