HI...I just started with chickens! Friends have been telling me I need chickens for years...and I said NO! But My boyfriend has chickens and since he stays here all the time we decided to move his chickens here! So now I have chickens! And we wanted babies and none of his hens are broody, so we got an incubator. Our first batch had 5 out of 6 fertile, but after the first chick hatched my cat knocked over the bator and none of the other eggs hatched...sad. After reading the blogs I now know the mistakes I was making! Set up 27 eggs...got 15 live chicks..one didn't make it out....But again learned all the things I did wrong! Like opening the bator a lot! And I mean a lot! Didn't know about day 18 lock down! Setting up 14 more eggs tomorrow! Hope will go better since I have more knowledge! I also have 2 horses and 6 cats and a dog! Thanks!

thanks I will! I do worry about the chicks that are inside the bator after they hatched hurting the other eggs..because they seem to play soccer with them!
