Is the term cockerel for young roosters or the general term for a male?

Yes, males are cockerels until they are 1 year and females are pullets until they are 1 year.
You will probably want more pullets if you keep all 3 cockerels, in the same coop/run, with the girls.

Yes, at this point I’m going to keep them all. I can “return” any roosters to my friend that gave them to me. I’ve never dealt with a rooster yet. My neighbor’ roosters are decent so maybe I’ll be lucky too. Jersey Giants I’ve read are pretty chill.

You won't be able to keep all three. You don't have enough girls for them and oftentimes even if you do, they're likely to keep fighting with each other. Cleaning up bloodied and battered roosters is not fun. Go ahead and ask me how I know.

Hello! Welcome to BYC! The only BJG pullet that I see is the middle bird. BJG are great birds! Very friendly, two of ours are lap chickens! We currently have 4 of them 2 hens and 2 pullets. Have fun here!

Hi, it would be a good idea to have a Plan B in case your boys start over breeding the girls or fighting with each other. A cockerel is a male chicken under the age of 1 year. Glossary Definitions of Common Terms
