I don't know if that constitutes broodiness in a duck. Maybe just wishful thinking? Does she sit on a nest, reluctant to leave it to eat drink? You can't bring on "broodiness, the hen has hormones that have to do that.

I have read on here of chickens hatching duck eggs & getting very upset when their foster "chicks," go swimming. The reverse is true of ducks hatching chicks - though things work out in the end.
