Hi,

I am Kate Gurule. Along with My mom Marge and my brother Tim we have dived into raising chickens. We are urban gardeners with a thriving bee hive and the decision to raise our own chickens came very easily. Well...not that easily as we had a lot of discussion about it and Tim had to build the coop first.... once he did, back in late July, we went and got our chickens. We have 2 atralops(?) 2 turkey necks and 4 others that I have no idea their kind but look like regular red chickens. They are all in good health, laying and are very entertaining. We love having them as part of the family!

Hi Kate and welcome to BYC:frow You'll find folks here involved in all the things you mentioned. We're so glad you joined us:ya

Hi Kate, Marge and Tim, we want to welcome each of you here to BYC. Its nice to see a family that share interests in keeping chickens. I am glad Tim went and built the coop first before getting chickens. So many times we see people get chickens before they even have a coop ready. Best of luck with your new flock. If you find have questions there are many helpful members here willing to help you out.

Hi and Welcome to Backyard chickens. I think you mean Black(?) Australorps and Turkens(they have naked necks). You can post photos of any others you are uncertain about at "what breed or gender is this." The folks there will sort them out for you.

So glad you joined the flock :wee
