Hi everyone,
New to the idea of raising chicken and getting interested in it for the eggs for bfast.
In South Fla and would like some ideas of where to keep some chickens outside.
Where do you keep yours and what kind of coops do you have?
Would they do ok around horses like in the same barn?
Thanks for looking

from Ohio. So glad you joined. Mine are in a barn. The chickens probably won't mind the horses, just don't let them roost above the horses feed or water trough.

Welcome from the beautiful state of Washington!! Horses and chickens do well together. I have both and had no problems.

WeLCOME, I'm also in south florida in broward county, Where are you located. I am also just starting out. I don't even have chicks yet, but we are getting pretty close.

Welcome! I'm in south Florida too.

My two main coops are solid walls with windows, but I would prefer to have more open coops. At the time I had all the wood needed, so I used what I had. If I ever build again I would probably go with three solid walls and one open with hardware cloth. But they do fine in the coops I have. Just gets hot this time of year.

Mine are raised off the ground and they spend a lot of time under the coops. Gives them extra run space, shade and shelter when it rains.
