Hello and welcome to BYC! We built our coop inside our garage and the run is along side the house. We did this for predator safety and due to our long, cold, bitter, subzero temps in the winter. It was fairly cheap to build the size we did. Our coop is 12x4x8 and the run is 22x5x5. We used particle board wood for the coop. Welded wire with a chicken wire skirt. However, hardware cloth(1/2 inch) is a much better choice. We found that out later. We raised all our chickens from baby chicks, which gave us the opportunity to handle daily and we now have 8 lap chickens. This website is wonderful and full of information! Good luck.
