new to chicken raising lost house last august lost everything and then this bloody freeking virus started

so a little back round i have had a dog for as long as i could remember i lost a lot last year because of some thing you could not imagin we had just left all six of are dogs there the day before and about 12 o clock that night i lost six dogs and alot of memories i can no longer live as i once did i fear being stuck like that again we are curently living with some friend my parents and i. also i graduated last year and while we were camping during the summer i had graduated i realised that night something was off then my dad came screeming into the camper are house was on fire and the police came just after that to tell us we went down to what we hoped was not a total loss also hoped are dogs were ok. sadly none of that came true the dogs probably died in there sleep because of carbondioxide poising and the house was a total loss we did not have any insurence because we did not have the money at the time we were down on are luck now we are just starting to get back to normal we are clearing the land now we have a house were moving on to the property now dont feel pity for me i have somewhat moved on i have another dog and we are going to be building a chicken coup on the property as a food source and monur sorce now can not stress this enough from what i have seen i believe that with the NY stock exchange going up and down a recession is near and or a depression i hope its not to bad but i will be getting chickens as soon as possible i am looking at two coups one egg coop
and one meat coop now i need suggestions for breeds i need brown egg layers no other colors now i need a bulky chicken for meet no leghorn breeds pls i don't want to go thru what my great grand mother did with her leghorns they got to big and they died by there own wight (gorey warning ) they broke there legs where they stood
i also need quick growing hens / roosters as i want to spend about 75 dollars on food for them a month also i want to know what crops i could grow year round to feed my chickens my name is Aron and i dont want anyone to feel sorry for me but i have to give my full story to tell you why i want to go for a more natural root as i did above please i need help i want to start them in the fall what do i need to start

So sorry to read about your home and your dogs.

I think you are confusing White Leghorns with Cornish crosses. Leghorns are a petite Mediterranean breed that lay large white eggs.
Barred rocks are a nice dual purpose breed that lay brown eggs as well as Black Australorps.
