New to chickening, starting in the spring!

:welcome Do you have breeds in mind?
I think most of us can agree that Plymouth Rocks are a good breed. There are so many colors, and the White Rock (WR) has the fluffiest bottom around! There are also a variety of red sex links which are great layers, but don’t lay as long as the heritage breeds.
I think most of us actually like a colorful egg basket and a colorful flock.

Welcome to BYC! Chicken math is a very real thing. Build a larger coop than you think you need and build the best quality coop you can afford to. I got some materials off Craigslist and windows from a Habitat for Humanity. Start planning and collecting materials now. Have your coop built before you get chicks. They grow up amazingly fast. So much fun. Enjoy!

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! I suggest going to the Coop Design Forum and starting a thread regarding pros and cons of a coop versus a tractor. Also, in the Learning Center you can find articles on coop designs. And if you want big fluffy chickens, I recommend Buff Orpingtons! They are my favorites!!
