New to chickens.. 36 incubating end of Day 20.. questions

Okay, thank you. Some have rocked just not all. My Brooder is set up and ready to roll. 💕
Awesome, that's perfect. Some do rock all the time, some don't. When incubating Marans Eggs, you can't ever candle because the shells are so thick and dark. Lots of people hatch them, so I think you're good. Post baby pics when they hatch! :love Good luck! Let us know if you have any more questions!

Yeah I only have a couple lighter eggs most are brown ... lol they’re mutts 😂😂😂 There’s a Americana roo. And a black Australorp roo. Then you have a Americana hen, black sex link hens, high line hens so what you have now is a potential of a Americana, Austricana, amerisexlink, ameriline, Austroline, Austrosex lol I got them from a friends with chickens his last hatch was successful and in using his incubator

That's too funny! I love the names! Those will make some gorgeous birds I bet!

The first time I hatched none of the eggs did anything by day 20. I candled them all and they looked good. So by day 22 I took them out and placed all 12 into an egg carton and was ready to discard when all of a sudden, chirp chirp chirp. They must have gotten nervous and figured they better do something. They all hatched and I still have them.!

Wow that’s amazing!! I’m hoping for a good number of hatches - I upgraded the coop here (came with the property) and built a brooder box !

It's a general rule not to discard any eggs until 5 days after hatch day. I and several others have had chicks hatch on day 26. Just late bloomers.

Sometimes I play chick sounds for my eggs, it really encourages them to move faster! That's great that one is peeping. I agree UThobbyfarmer, you'll have little chicks by tomorrow for sure!
