New kid here. I'm 54 years young, an animal lover since birth. I have had everything from horses and dogs to snakes and rats. I recently moved to NH and got lucky enough to land on a farm! yeah for me!! There was an empty chicken coop and I gained permission to move right in! I have been fascinated by chickens since reading in college that most trainers of animals (and others) learn proper techniques by working with chickens. I have been searching for an opportunity to raise chickens ever since.
I have my wish!! 9 chickens, 1 leghorn, 1 EE, 6 NH reds, and i black chickens that is the smartest girl I have ever encountered. I have no idea what she is. There are two groups. One is 21 weeks old, the other is 16 weeks old. I also have 5 ducks added by an upstairs neighbor.. There will be millions of questions about that. Int eh past week, a rat has decided to move in. So there's another challenge....
but it's answers to complex questions that I really need... and while books about raising chickens are helpful, it's always better to go to the experts... YOU! Thank you all in advance for your help, wisdom, and laughs.
