(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
I am new. I ordered my first six chicks today from Paris Farmer's Union in Maine. It has always been my dream to have a small farm of my own, and my family is now working to do that.
(2) How many chickens do you have right now?
Six little ones will be ours as of June 6.
(3) What breeds do you have?
Rhode Island Reds. After research, I thought these would be the best fit for our family.
(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?
I've visited this site many times, dreaming of my future flock. I'm so happy that is not becoming a reality.
(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Flower, vegetable, and herb gardening. Reading. Writing. Cooking.
(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.
My family consists of my husband W who works as a mechanical technician, my spunky and outgoing 10-month-old C, and my lazy old Pooch Maxie (a chihuahua mix). I am at home full time taking care of C so the gardening and animal husbandry falls onto my duties. I love raising C around animals as I feel it teaches both empathy and responsibility.
