New to chickens, and loving it.

I bought 30 chicks less than a month ago. Including the chicks, I have 9 children(5 are "adult" children and on their own) and 3 dogs. My younger children(13, 11, 9 and 2) LOVE the chicks. The help w the chicks and enjoy watching, holding, playing w the chicks. I have one dog that seem to love running the chicks around along the fence line, but is so intrigued by them when I bring one out so that she has a closer look and is still. My Yorkie, could careless about the chicks, but will come into the "chicken yard" w me and pretty much ignore the chicks and vice versa. My grand babies LOVE them as well. Since we moved out to a very UNPOPULATED area and onto a fair amount of land, I'd like to do what I can to teach my kids about "living off the land" and knowing where our food comes from. We have friends who raise cattle and pigs...this will also be helpful. I'm new to all this country living but jumping HEAD first. I'm sure I'll get a lot of information from everyone here. Let the games begin.
