New to chickens and need lots of info

Do you remember when that was on YouTube? According to their website as of April 4th, they have been cleared to continue hatching and shipping: a-statement-from-mcmurray-hatchery-high-pathogenic-avian-influenza-hpai
It was only a few days ago. I suppose they got it cleared quick. However, I have seen many companies and hatcheries needing to cull. Including Tyson. Not trying to spread fear, just saying to research the places you are getting your chickens from until this mess is over. Hopefully, that will be very soon.

It's a real concern for sure and definitely something to check out when ordering birds.

Hello, and welcome to BYC! :wee
Make yourself at home in this amazing community!

A lot of great suggestions have already been made - while I don't raise chickens for meat, I know that Australorps, Rhode Island Reds, and Wyandottes are good all-purpose breeds, and I've personally found that they all lay a good amount of eggs. There's a large selection out there, though! Try checking out the different chicken breeds in the articles section to get started!
Regarding coops, make sure to give an ample amount of space! Chicken math is real, and you'll want to have enough room to expand your flock comfortably! Also, ventilation is key to healthy chickens, so make sure to give a liberal amount of it. On another note, while prefab coops can look convenient, they often are not well-made or are extremely small. If possible, think about building your own coop. I hope this helped!

Welcome - glad to meet you.

Best wishes with your birds and your plans!
