NEW TO CHICKENS HELP NEEDED WITH LOTS OF BIG DECISIONS!!

Adorable! I've decided on my breeds and ordered them yesterday to come April 17!! OK!!

Drum Roll Please..
The 3 breeds are..

2 Blue Cohcins,
1 Easter Egger,
1 Easter Egger Bantam,
And 1 Buff Orpington!

Did I make a good choice? I'm going to start a new thread soon on what I need to care for them and other things! Thanks!!

Wow! What a coincidence! :D Now I'm happy, but I have to wait 2 long months before I get my chicks in April. Oh well, wish me luck, and thank you for helping me!

l'm getting 4 Road Island red chicks from Waianae Feed & Grain.
They say they are to arrive at store end of February-March
Does anyone know where I can buy a chick starter kit for under $30.
Petco has one $21 on sale but they don't ship to Hawaii.

Sexlinks, Easter eggers, silkies, and plymouth rocks are a pretty sweet I think I love them. Good egg production. I had one BPR in particular named Star. She was the sweetest. So I think you would live them along with Silkies and EEs. Very good temperament. EEs can be skiddish if not raised as chicks/not spent time with too often. Silkies are super sweet. Sexlinks are usually at your heels begging for food. They are often muxed up as ISA browns. Very good birds. Sexlinks often have ovary problems so you are aware.

Hi RedHenny.... Congratulations on starting your new flock! You are in the right place for getting info on all things chicken. I am new to chickens too and can tell you there is a wealth of knowledge here and tons of kind people wiling to share ideas.

If you havent already, head over to the Learning Center tab and check out the Getting Started Section. Its got great info on what you might need when starting out. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/getting-started-raising-chickens I particularly found the Raising Chickens 101 helpful when i began with my chicks in May. They have home made brooder and feeder ideas, things you may not have thought of!

I wonder if you can get Amazon to deliver in Hawaii? If so, you will find the important components of the Petco kit there, for instance if you look at the feeder and waterer and scroll down under the item to the "frequently bought together" you see the feeder, waterer, medicated chick feed and heat lamp bulb for about $25:

Good luck!

Mahalos to for your reply about a Chick starter but I found a Kaylee chick starter on Ebay $12.95 S/H $12 So I order that today. Expected arrival 1-27-2017. They say so in an email I'm all stoked about that friend who give me alot of valuable information I can use in the future. I'm just going to turn you on to a brilliant lady who knows all about chickens is "Becky's Homestead" online Youtube...
What she taught me so my Hennyko lays eggs now everyday and sings too! Beats the 5+ eggs a week before...What a bargain!

I've done quite some research on food, and I've found DuMON Chick starter and Purina's chick starter. Which is better? According to reviews, Purina seems better, but more expensive, thats okay. But what do you think is better?

Do some research on the learning center. You can probably pick up everything you need locally, and save yourself a lot of money. Check out Mother heating pad brooding. Read the second article posted in my signature.

The only consideration I make when buying feed of any kind is what is the mill date. Brand is not important to me. Mill date is.

Hey guys.. I'm starting to worry about one thing now; I didn't select to vaccinate my chicks for Marek's... Is that... BAD?
