yeah the sack of feed fooled me too & I almost returned it, It isnt labeled anything on the sack at all with the exception of the tag

I heard when they molt/Winter the extra protien 18%+ is important

Hello and welcome to BYC! :frow Glad you joined.

You aren't just feeding scratch are you? That is intended as a treat only and in very small quantities. The birds should be on a complete diet that offers 18-20% protein.

I was told since my layers were born & raised on the opposite side on the County I should keep the hens inside the coop for the 1st 5-10 days before allowing them to roam in the run.

And that the scratch would help aquatint them to the coop environment if I need help getting the birds back in in the evening. The soldier flys would just help get them comfortable in thier new surroundings
