I appreciate that, thank you
Oh and don't forget to put a dish of oyster shell out for them as a source of calcium. They will eat it as needed, mine eat it very slowly so you might not notice much is gone if you don't have many hens. Oyster shell is not a solution for grit tho, make sure you offer both! Sorry if you already know these things!

I can use all the help you have.
(throw it at me)

I was told since my layers were born & raised on the opposite side on the County I should keep the hens inside the coop for the 1st 5-10 days before allowing them to roam in the run.

And that the scratch would help aquatint them to the coop environment if I need help getting the birds back in in the evening. The soldier flys would just help get them comfortable in thier new surroundings
You need to home relocated hens to their secured setup which is the coop and run combination. This practice is unnecessary when they are raised there as chicks.
You can throw their crumble for them and they will come running. It doesn't have to be scratch.

Hi :frow and welcome to BYC! You and your chickens are gonna do great! You're not too far from my DD and her DH (Dear Daughter, Dear Husband). They live in Angleton, SW of you. I'm in SE Missouri. Enjoy your flock when you get 'em!
