Hiya, and welcome to BYC!!

The important thing for chicks that age is not too hot as they'll get pasty butt and not too cold as they can die. For their first week, temps should be 90-95F, so now at a week old, I'd have mine at 90F and ready to move down to 85F in another week.

Make sure there's room for them to get away from whatever you're using in case they get too hot.

Our 6 chicks are in the house in a room that gets down to 64 degrees at night and hovers between 64-68 during the day. Is it good to have the heat lamp on during the day while we're around, and then just use the brooding plate at night? thanks!
