New to Chickens with Serama -Chicks- *~7 Week Photo Update!*

thank you for the thread..I am wanting these gys so bad but they are hard to get here in canada,,soon ..I hope.

cheers

I moved everyone up to a bigger brooder today and suddenly new bahaviors popped up!...lol The chicks have taken to trying to flutter already! A couple of them even tried to flutter at eachother or at the ducklings! lol They think they're so big..... One of them was even scratching at the coconut bedding to try to dig a piece of food out

I can't believe how quickly they are growing and feathering! I will try to get some shots tomorrow wih them posing...I seem to have a knack for pulling them out when they are sleepy and won't pose....unless you count falling asleep in my hand posing....lol

Love the new pics! I think newborn Seramas look so grumpy. You'd think they'd be happy 'bout breakin' loose of that gumball they call an egg. That being said, I'm looking foreward to my first Serama hatch Mondayish. If it doesn't go well, just box up "brownie" and send him on over!

12 & 13 days old! Any thoughts on adult colors? What about gender?...some seem to have larger combs than others

Too cute! Good doggie! Don't know much about colors, except the obviously white ones. Your brown one could become a solid color, with a contrasting tail. Darlene Thompson (etruhla and lingling on ebay and eggbid) has beautiful examples of this color. I think she calls it gold, at least I hope she does, because she sent me an egg labled that way. May take a little longer to determine gender. I visited a local Serama breeder recently, and her chicks had a distinct comb difference. The males' will turn red first.

Neither of the ones that appear whitish in the photos are actually white

...which is good b/c I don't like white...lol I think the 2nd one is going to be black...unfortunately I don't like black either...but that's ok, I don't plan on keeping all of them anyway...that'll make my choosing easier...lol

Okay, I'll give it a shot. If the first one isn't white, maybe ivory? Second one, black, sorry. The third and the fifth one seem very similar. A smoky brown, like the dust kicked up when a farmer plows a rich field. I'll call it "loam." Next, a beautiful dark gold. The sixth is maybe silver penciled? It looks more speckley. And the last one looks like it has a peachy glow in the picture. French vanilla. How'd I do? Very beautiful birds.

4 week update!

Any new thoughts on adult colors?....they are all so cute! The blacks have a little yellow/white and brown on some of their feathers...don't seem solid black now, will they turn solid black?...
