Hello! I am new to raising backyard chickens but have loved, and often reference, this site. I have found some very valuable information and tips on BYC so thanks to all who have, and continue, to share!
We started with day-old baby chicks: 2 Rhode Island Reds, 2 Buff Orpingtons, and 2 Barred Plymoth Rocks. They are about 12 weeks old now and doing great. It's fun to watch them and to witness their different personalities. Because we are in the upper Midwest, I have recently been watching for information on winterizing. I'm shocked at the mixed advice on heat/no heat, what to feed, how much to cover, etc. Will continue to read on this more...
We have 2 busy teenagers, a 9 yr old black lab, and a 1 yr old cat. I am looking forward to this fun adventure. Will continue to choose this site as a reference for learning all I can about raising these fun little girls!
