Hello, My name is Nancy. We have 16 hens there were 20 but 4 were roosters we found out and got rid of them. They now started laying eggs. I think they are 5 months maybe more. One of them has bumblefoot and I need to know if we can catch anything from her eggs. I think she is laying but not sure. I just researched online about bumblefoot. She has been limping and my brotherinlaw is suppose to be keeping after that problem. I told him a month ago and now I am going to fix it myself i learned on youtube how to do it. But if she has had it this long and she is laying can we have caught anything from the eggs?

In regards to the bumblefoot and eating the chicken's eggs question, sorry I can't help; I would think it is fine, though. Hopefully some more people can give you advice on that... @TwoCrows and @The Angry Hen ? Or, you could make a new thread in a different 'forum/section' around here, regarding that. :)

Good new Years Day and Welcome to Backyard Chickens.. you will not have caught anything from the eggs with bumblefoot it is limited the bird

Bumblefoot is not contagious and yes you can eat the eggs. Generally it stems from a puncture wound to the pad of the foot that becomes infected. You will need to do a surgery on her foot to get rid of the bacteria. I wrote an article on foot problems in poultry and did an extensive section on Bumblefoot surgery having done this from experience.
