New to chickens

Welcome to the forum Chris! You're pet chicken is so stinking cute, she's living like a queen in there. I hope you find many insights for any questions you have and may even find yourself helping others with their questions. Animals are lovely to have around each has their own joy they can bring. Getting eggs is great. Be very careful of chicken math. I thought it was a myth until I got chicks from tractor supply.. I was going to buy pullets close or already laying (always worked with the grown ones) but chicks are can be addicting.

:welcome :frow You may want to get her a friend in the future. Chickens are flock animals. You will find a lot of good information here BYCArticles.jpg Good luck with your bird and have fun...

Great idea. That is something I have thought about. Im still trying to learn how to manage her. She is super tame. Let’s me hold her etc. She is currently laying on infertile eggs for about a few weeks. I need to remove them and that’s my next question which I will look up… will she get depressed if I remove her eggs? She is broody now and it’s time to get her out of that broody trance. At first I was not sure if the eggs where fertile but I did candeling and it’s almost been three weeks and I don’t see anything. I don’t intend on getting a male chicken. I want to have a female chicken partner. But I want to make sure they get along and that it doesn’t cause trauma either. I don’t want them to try to peck at each other and then end up with a mean bully chicken. Thanks I’ll look into what you send.
