New to chicks. Am I doing it right?

These are my brand new chicks. The large group hatched 3/3. The smaller group are at least a week older, but I'm not sure of hatch date. Is this a good setup? They're inside my living room for now. I don't want to move them out until they're older/bigger.

I have bird netting on the bigger chicks. Is that enough? I have more I can add to the smaller chicks.

I should think that would be fine, as long as it's secured (unless you have a cat jumping up there or something). I remember being shocked by how early mine were trying to fly!

No indoor cats.

How long would the netting be enough?

Any idea how old my bigger chicks are?

Need close ups of the older chicks to guess at age.

Netting, if secured taut, should be fine as a topper until they're old enough to move out.

I would remove the bin lid that you have sitting partially across the smaller bin, plastic bin brooders tend to trap heat and you don't want it to become an oven.

I'll get a better pic in the AM.

I was using it for shade. I've since moved it to just on top of the pack-n-play so that still provides a shadow but isn't on top anymore.

A quick tip for keeping the water and food from getting shavings is to put them on a brick or something similar. (I personally hate having to clean it out 5 times a day!) anyway, looks like your doing great!
