New to chicks please help

Hi I ordered 5 baby silkie chicks online and I got them on Tuesday. One has already gone died I am terrified more will die I have a heat lamp medicated food the other 4 seem to be doing great. Why did that baby die. I constantly made sure she wasn't pasting up do I need to worry about that? Someone help I don't want them all to die I feel horrible.

Sometimes chicks are just weak. That's fairly normal and Welcome to BYC! Glad you joined us!

! Pleased to have you here! I agree with Houdan...sometimes a chick just has a weak constitution. Sorry for your loss!

Shipping is rough on baby chicks and usually some don't survive the trip. Silkies are beautiful and lots of fun. My friend has had them for over 20 years and makes housepets out of them (lives in "no chicken" zone). She also has 2 seramas but, the silkies are her very favorites.
