Okay so some of you may have read my previous threads about housing with chickens and call ducks noise level. Im combining them here :)

we are going to the farm with the ducks tuesday. We will decide then after hearing them if the neighbors would be bothered. I am thinking i will make them their own little seperate house from the hen house and they would run with the chickens in the run. when i am outside to watch them they can run the yard after they tame down and play in the kiddie pool. all day they will just have a water bowl. Would an hour or two of swimming each day be alright? We have stray dogs show up occasionally, so all out of run time must be closely supervised.

We plan to get two ducks. hearing them on the farm will determine if we think we could get one girl and one boy or two boys. Would going through their pen and listening to them and finding a quieter girl work do you think? They are like 3 months old (its that or 1 day and they have to go to fair in the end of july so day old wont work) So should we look for the friendliest ones as well? We cant clip their wings before fair, so they will need to tame down without that. They are call ducks so i believe they can fly??

If anyone wants to see what i believe are the parents here is the link http://waterloo.craigslist.org/grd/3054665400.html. I think they are cute.

Do they need their own house? Or could they share with the chickens? The chicken house plans were finalized last night. It is 5.5 ft tall and slants down to 4.5 feet in the back. It is two levels, the bottom is 3 ft tall and the upstairs is 2.5 with it tapering to 1.5. the 3 nest boxes are up here. Roosts are downstairs and their is a ramp leading up to the upper level. It is 6 feet long and 2 feet 10 inches wide (so it will fit through the door of the run) Their pen is 9 feet by 10 feet and is almost 6 feet tall. Their are 10 chickens in it. 5 "gold stars" (standard) 1 barred coching bantam, 1 red frizzle cochin bantam, 1 blue frizzle cochin bantam, and 2 antwerp belgians (aka belgian quail) We would be adding two call ducks to the mix.

Thanks for the help so far guys :)
