NEW TO DUCKS

Here is a picture of the "weird eggs" that we saw today when candling. What are your thoughts? The spots are not moving.View attachment 2012142View attachment 2012143
i think i see bloodrings. Which is when the embryo dies and the bloodcells move to the outsides of the yolk and form rings. But keep them in the bator for another 5 days to make sure

As for the one with the crack, if it looks healthy to you you can seal the crack with non toxic glue like white silicone. Just cover the crack if you cover too much shell the egg wont be able to exchange gasses properly

We are 4 days from hatching. The NB360 incubator says to take out the turning tray 3 days before hatch day, remove the cover on the second water reservour, and increase the humidity to 75%. Once they start hatching, do I leave the clear dome on the unit? I have read that they can stay in there for 24 hours or a little longer to fluff up before I put them in our brooder box.

I'm assuming by the "dome" you mean the clear part that keeps the heat in? I just looked up the incubator online but have never seen one in person but I'm not sure how else you would keep the heat and humidity in without leaving the "dome" on it. Sounds like you are good to go on everything though.

I personally do not leave the ducklings in my incubator that long. Once they are completely out of their shells, have rested a bit and are moving all around inside the incubator I take them out and put them in their brooder. I put a mirror in the brooder too mostly for the first one so it doesn't get lonely. They actually really like it!

Got home from work and saw my first pip from our ducks. The countdown is at 4 days. Should I got ahead and turn off the auto-turner and take the humidity up to 75%? Current settings is 99.5F 53%. first pip.jpg
