Hi everyone!
I'm a homesteader in NW Ohio. I have two acres with a fully stocked fishing pond, and I'm obsessed with ducks!! I have resident wild mallards on the pond who just had 10 baby ducklings!!!
I am raising Buff Orpington ducks, too. I ordered four hens and 1 drake in early April 2020, but only two hens survived the first two days due to an unexpectedly long shipping time and the cold nights. Those two hens are doing great and are in their own brooder in the garage (three weeks old this past Tuesday). The hatchery and I decided to wait to ship the replacements for the ones that didn't make it until this week. I received them yesterday, and unlike the first batch, all three made it through the night and are much more energetic than the first batch.
I'm looking forward to learning everything from the experts here at backyardchickens. I was lurking for months before I ordered these babies and decided to join yesterday.
