We just got two wood ducks and we are needing some info. What kind of food can I feed them and do they need a perch to sleep on? If so, what should the perch be (platform or regular chicken style perch)? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

I have peking ducks. When they were little I feed them starter chick food . They are now over 1 and they eat lay pellet. They do not perch, they sleep on the ground on some hay in the chicken run.

Scratch is candy. Nothing to it.

I don't have any experience with woodies (I want a pair so bad though, but already getting yelled at everytime I look at a new bird) so I can't say much about them.

I think layer should be fine for them if they are adults, if they're still young a flock raiser should work.

Our ducks and chickens eat together so we mix scratch and pellets...They also get to free range for 2-3hrs a day...

Welcome to the world of Ducks! They are by far the most precious animals I have ever raised, my silkies are in a very very close second but I think being able to see their eyes all the time puts them over the top...

yes they can eat chicken layer pellets year round yes they like to perch on anything
